I’ve had ten birthdays since I started this blog so now I’m 67 years old.  I’ve been studying the horn for almost eleven years since I started again after a 37 year lapse. I played in high school and a little bit in college. Now I’m retired and have the time to take it up again, something I’ve wanted to do since I stopped playing. I gave it up for marriage (I met my husband who played the cello in music camp), four kids, and a career in marketing. When my kids were young I had an opportunity to play in a community orchestra and my husband’s reaction was, “Are you nuts?” (He was right.) So much for playing the horn.

I’ve learned a lot since I started playing again. For the first year or so I worked with two teachers (you’ll have to read my blog to find out why). I play in two community bands and four community orchestras. I’m working on some great music, and I love every minute of it. Well, except for the really frustrating days which are also well documented in the blog. I was not a music major in college so I went back to school. I  graduated in May 2012 with an Associate degree in Music and I graduated with a BS in Music from Long Island University, Post campus, in January 2014.
