About

I’ve had ten birthdays since I started this blog so now I’m 67 years old.  I’ve been studying the horn for almost eleven years since I started again after a 37 year lapse. I played in high school and a little bit in college. Now I’m retired and have the time to take it up again, something I’ve wanted to do since I stopped playing. I gave it up for marriage (I met my husband who played the cello in music camp), four kids, and a career in marketing. When my kids were young I had an opportunity to play in a community orchestra and my husband’s reaction was, “Are you nuts?” (He was right.) So much for playing the horn.

I’ve learned a lot since I started playing again. For the first year or so I worked with two teachers (you’ll have to read my blog to find out why). I play in two community bands and four community orchestras. I’m working on some great music, and I love every minute of it. Well, except for the really frustrating days which are also well documented in the blog. I was not a music major in college so I went back to school. I  graduated in May 2012 with an Associate degree in Music and I graduated with a BS in Music from Long Island University, Post campus, in January 2014.

Everything I’ve gone through horn wise is in my blog so I hope you enjoy reading it.

  1. Nice run down on the IHS Fiasco. Tom Greer told me he had dinner with you one night. What is the deal on the horn? Will Hoyer correct it or can you adjust to compensate?

I could swap my Holton Tuckwell for your Hoyer. LOL. It plays great but the valves are so tight that I have to use ether on them to play.

What the hell is this deal on the naughty horn????

If you know the Hoyers this well then should spring for a different horn I would think.

    Won’t bother you anymore,
